Well it looks like I should be bottling by this weekend or by the beginning of next. There is barely enough gas in the secondary to keep the airlock bubbling, at least as of this morning. I could be wrong by the end of this day though, sometimes it goes in waves. It will look […]

Just an update on the beer situation:
I racked to secondary on Sat., because I had a real long time in between bubbles in the airlock, so that tells me it is time. When I cracked it open there was very little geeb floating on the top, there was a lot on the sides and a […]

The Rye ale fermentation has slowed down enough that I was able to put the double bubble airlock back in, so that it is easier to monitor the progress. It has slowed down to approx. 40 sec. between bubbles. I think that I will be racking to secondary early next week.
My dad has ordered a […]

I had mentioned that I had to change airlocks on my Rye ale 12 hrs. after racking to primary, well here are a couple of pictures of what I have set up.
Then here is what the bucket of water looked like after 4-5 hrs of changing over.

Well like I had mentioned in a previous blog that I had a mold issue. Good news, not my sanitation. It is a airborne mold that will happen no matter what, especially in my neck of the woods where it is humid and rainy and the fact that I brew in the basement. […]

I just saw one of the best videos today thanks to Hop Talk’s blog. Someone named Stonch got the coolest idea of doing a stop time video of his beer fermenting and I think everyone should go to their sites to see what is happening inside your fermenter when you’re brewing.

A little bit of bad news on the brewing front, MOLD!!!!!!
I got to day five of my fermentation and no fermentation. I opened up the bucket to take a peek and I had a half dozen little blossoms of mold floating on the top. I sanitized all my fermentators and cleaned all of my […]

WoooooooHooooooo!!!!
Time to start another batch of beer, actually it’s time to start two. I’ve got to brew to batches of the same brew for some neighbors. They dug my Rye-PA so much that they wanted their own, so luckily me. I know what you’re saying, it sounds like it is torture for me to have […]

Let’s here it for the Thirsty Dog Brewing Co. coming back to NE Ohio. It has been too long.
I had spent many an evening at the bar, when it was in Canton, nursing a Siberian Night and throwing darts…good times….good times.
I was a very sad “pup” when the brewpubs closed, but the sky’s are […]
